As a painter my interest is in communicating an atmospheric, visceral response to landscape – also researching the environment, history and geology of the landscape I paint. As an artist born in Edinburgh most of my work is in response to Scottish landscape. I often work in collaboration with artists, poets or musicians, which I find an inspiring and rewarding creative process. I occasionally create portraits of the people I work with.

Rose has exhibited in public galleries around the UK and abroad, including the Royal Scottish Academy, City Art Centre, National Museum of Scotland, and commercial galleries including the Open Eye Gallery, Sutton Gallery, Gallery Ten and Flaubert Gallery in Edinburgh, the Lime Tree Gallery, Bristol and Suffolk, Io Gallery Brighton, Corte Real Gallery Portugal and Gallery One Friedrichstrasse, Berlin. Rose also worked for several years in the field of arts and health as Curator for the NHS in Scotland and the West Midlands, most recently as Lead Artist/Curator for the Leverndale Hospital, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
