VFM125 are David Finney and Martin Vishnick lifelong friends, one of who (David) was born with two fingers missing but really wanted to play the guitar, and after encouragement from Martin he did learn guitar and went on to play in the band ’The Company She Keeps’ who played on MTV, BBC Radio 1, and made a video with comedy legend Rik Mayall. Martin is a converted Buddhist, and they are both animal welfare activists.

‘Same God Different Channel’ is a pulsating and addictive new single from post-punk band VFM125 who pose the question “are we heading towards the end of religion?”

Same God Different Channel is expected to build on the duo’s previous single Red Red World III, which notched up over 50,000 streams on Spotify in four months.

VFM125 have a diverse range of influences and these permeate their multi-faceted, progressive pop style. The new single features a narrative rap through the world’s religions, textured nylon and steel string guitars, pulsating bass, African Thumb Piano, and a very catchy chorus to boot! Near the end of the track, voices in different languages ask “is this the end of religion?”.

Certainly, from a UK perspective, the last census (2021) showed the proportion of people saying “no religion” had risen to 37%, increasing 12 percentage points in the last 10 years, while the World Economic Forum declared that “Religious violence is on the rise”. The duo hope it will get people singing and wondering if humanity can move towards a world where religious culture and differences gives way to a unified race.
