Another Bond film? Not quite! It is now much improved piece to the globally known series. Spectre is a brand new production from British director Sam Mendes (Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road). Daniel Craig (Dream House, Defiance) jumps into the character of James B. again, does it well and so does his arch nemesis Christoph Waltz as Blofeld. Even the cold-faced Lucia Sciarra played by Monica Belucci (Malena, The Matrix Revolutions) adds up to the context making a Bond girl for a bloodcurling split second in the film.
Lucia Sciarra: If you don’t leave now, we’ll die together.
James Bond: I can think of worse ways to go.
Lucia Sciarra: Then you’re obviously crazy, Mr…
James Bond: Bond. James Bond.
The icing on the cake is innocent Dr Madeleine Swann performed by girly yet thick-skinned Lea Seydoux (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Inglorious Basterds). Fair play to Ralph Fiennes aka ‘M’, in the film, for intellectualizing the action packed good/evil contest. Here- GOOD prevails again!
It’s got to be said! Thanks to Spectre’s very creative cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar and Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy) and the use of ARRI’s new Alexa 65 6K super-camera during production of the film the dynamics are great and very eye-involving and special effects of great imagination.
All in all, the picture is no disappointment for Bond fans and a treat for those who’re trying. Now, the writing’s on the wall…
