South London duo SHELF LIVES release new single “Shock Horror” – the latest taste of their upcoming debut mini-album ‘Yes, offence’ out 28th April via Not Sorry Mom Records.

Originating from Toronto, Canada and Northampton respectively, Shelf Lives consist of vocalist Sabrina and guitarist/producer Jonny – who now both reside in Streatham Hill, South London. Bringing to mind the acerbic art-rock of Le Tigre and the gritty garage-rock inspired electro bombast of Peaches, the band’s debut mini-album ‘Yes, offence’ is an enthralling, genre-bending debut body of work.

New single “Shock Horror” emerges from the band’s ongoing creative collaboration with producer Space (IDLES, Do Nothing) – whom they also collaborated with on previous singles “Shelf Life” and “Mark Twain” – and the upcoming mini album ‘Yes, offence’.

There’s a potent urgency within Shelf Lives’ music, and new single “Shock Horror” is no different. A unique electronic post-punk/trash-pop amalgam; caustic guitars grapple with driving percussion as Sabrina expertly navigates around the instrumentation with acute social-commentary style lyricism.

Discussing the new single, Shelf Lives singer Sabrina said:

Shock Horror is an homage to our worst nightmare of a human. An amalgamation of specific traits that are so transparent yet irresistible, in a way. Everyone has met one or has even been one at some point in their lives. The catch is that this type of person is annoyingly frustrating in that you can’t help yourself but feel a little bit sorry for them. They’re lost, probably lonely, and super cliché which makes them harmless and so easy to dislike.

Shelf Lives are poised to make a huge impact over the coming 12 months. With an unmissable live show, the pair have already supported the likes of Speedy Wunderground-signed moa moa and fellow risers False Heads – as well as embarking on a full UK tour with acclaimed Copenhagen duo Palace Winter toward the end of 2021, all within the first 3 months of releasing their debut single.

With press support coming in thick and fast from The Line Of Best Fit, Dork Magazine, Gigwise + more, alongside radio airplay on BBC 6 Music – Shelf Lives are bringing punk back to the house party just in time. The band’s debut mini-album ‘Yes, offence’ will be released 28th April via Not Sorry Mom Records. New single “Shock Horror” is out now.
