Scottish Electronic duo Post Coal Prom Queen will release new single ‘Tomorrow’s Garden’ on the 2nd of April, the final preview of their upcoming EP ‘PCPQ EP ‘. Post Coal Prom Queen (Lily Higham & Gordon Johnstone) have been sharing a string of carefully crafted singles leading up to the release of their much-anticipated debut.

Following the EP’s overall themes of environmentalism, ambitious ideas and deep reflection over our shared future, the new single from the duo imagines a utopian, solarpunk vision of the future where unfathomably huge vertical farms dot the landscape and have ushered in a post scarcity society.

Lily’s evocative lyrics and careful world building are accompanied by deep, enticing bass lines, classic trip-hop inspired beats and a bright arrangement of synths and sounds that create a sonic world that is as vivid and inviting as the future they imagine.

‘Tomorrow’s Garden’ is the third track taken from the pair’s upcoming debut. The EP sees Lily and Gordon use what they learned from their time in previous band L-space to enhance, perfect and expand on their sound. Influences from the likes of Boards of Canada, Portishead and Gorillaz has merged with the duo’s unique electronic style to create their most accomplished work to date.

Recent collaborations with Japanese art pop innovators Macaroom has had a profound influence on PCPQ and their approach, encouraging them to be more ambitious with their arrangements. Organic strings and percussion are combined with nostalgic 16 bit sounds and retrofuturistic synths to create exciting pop soundscapes.

The ‘PCPQ EP’ is released on 30th April, the duo is currently working on their debut album and preparing for live shows when restrictions are lifted.
