My name is Sally Beaton and I study Contemporary Art Practise at Grays School of Art. My work mainly focusses on the broad spectrum of human emotions, particularly on the more complicated ones such as vulnerability, bravery and melancholy. I love working with the human figure, Ilona Szalay has been a huge influence on my work recently, the way she captures so much detail and character using simplistic brush strokes amazes me. The work you are seeing is my most recent and personal, it deals with events, which were going on in my life at the time such as open heart surgery and the end of a relationship. The collection of work includes collage, painting, installation, screen print, embroidery, laser cuttings and photography.
