My practice is approached in several media taking shape in different forms. Usually the media is chosen according to the nature of the context where the work is shown. My work is phenomenological, it arouses from intuitions and I use those intuitions to create what is needed for a specific context. As an artist I am into a full time schedule, and life becomes a research, a source of inspiration itself. I believe that all the existences are individually a focus of the universe and each awakened person is a small cell using its full potential. My role as an artist is to help this awakening happen through my work, creating synergy. My work is inspired by life and death and by a witty approach to serious matters.
Matlakas
I was born in Naples, Italy. My background broadens to the fields of painting, performance, and installation. After my degree in classical sculpture in Naples I moved to London where I studied a Master's degree in Social Sculpture at Oxford Brookes University. Social Sculpture in fact made me discover a new way of working that involves the participation and sensibilization from the audience to the environment and eco-system. My interest is nowadays to focus on Steiner’s esoteric theories and indirectly links to the search of inner truth found in the Bhagavad-Gita and other spiritual readings. I participated in exhibitions and performance events worldwide including: Biennale of young artists in Moscow, Gwangju Biennale in South Korea, The Museum of Palestine in Cape Town and the Institute of Palestine in South Africa in 2015.
