Concerned with the memory and myths to be found within the landscape. I adopt a level of interconnectedness in my image making, juxtaposing apparent opposites, or dualities. I construct narratives with a transcendental approach, combining real, imagined, and metaphorical elements to reflect on both my own personal experience of place, and that of which has gone before.
In my most recent project, ‘Of High Specific Gravity’, I explore a land with a troubled past. Historically, twenty aircraft succumbed to the moorlands of this landscape. Human error and heavy mist were said to be contributing factors. However, another theory was that mineral deposits within the land interfered with the primitive navigational equipment. This mineral is Baryte, known for its high specific gravity.
