A group of 16 musicians from the Orchestra will perform a short concert of traditional tunes from their repertoire to entertain passers-by for 45 minutes on the concourse. There will be something for everyone to enjoy from infectious jigs and reels to poignant slow airs, as well as a beautiful selection of well-known songs.
They are promoting their upcoming gig at the Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on Saturday 11 June – their first Edinburgh show since before Covid. This concert will welcome the 100-strong orchestra to the stage, alongside The Royal High Pipe Band. They will be performing a selection of new arrangements alongside some traditional classics.
The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra is one of Scotland’s foremost traditional music organisations and it is run solely by volunteers. They are a charity that is fully self-supported. They make donations to other music-related charities, partner pipe bands, medical charities and the RNLI. More information can be found here.
