9-26 August 2018 Leith Theatre Edinburgh
Inspired by the unique musical history of Leith Theatre, independent agency Touch (the creative studio behind the acclaimed Welcome World and Light on the Shore campaigns) has created a series of hanging banners, each a response to one of the acts that have played at the venue over the years (from its heyday in the 1970s through to its recent renaissance). Taking cues from community banners and Leith’s tradition of artist murals, this will be a visual celebration of Leith Theatre’s proud musical heritage, from Thin Lizzy’s career-defining early performances to AC/DC’s electrifying 1976 show, from Anna Meredith’s intoxicating compositions to Young Fathers’ triumphant gig on home turf earlier this year.
A tightly-curated collection of souvenir merchandise will complement this exhibit, including Riso prints, tote bags and limited-run tee-shirts, not only giving gig-goers a unique memento of their Light on the Shore experience but also raising funds – with all profits raised going back towards the ongoing transformation of this historic venue.
