My paintings can be read overall as a love letter to women – the women I have grown up with, the women artists I have admired, and the female relationships that have been intrinsic to my own emotional growth. As a female artist, I aim to create a painted space that is devoid of a male gaze, and instead offers a space for both my female subjects and the viewers to breathe. In a time where our relationship with our immediate surroundings has become increasingly stressed due to the pandemic, my work tells a story of female resilience. I take inspiration from the women around me, those from film, television, books, and my imagination. My ambiguous painting style allows my characters to blur into their environment and opens a narrative for viewers to find their own story within my snapshots.
