For me creating art is like breathing life into that which I cannot articulate in words.
My artwork often takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues and I often work on an autobiographical level, led by my life experiences. In my work I am inviting viewers to witness the world as I see it. It is explorative and I am never quite sure of the outcomeI began creating art by drawing and painting and moved onto other materials as my need to experiment grew. When my art is going well I have a high sense of achievement, I feel peaceful and I lose myself in the meditation like state that I am immersed into. At the end of this process, I look for the pieces that might speak clearly to the viewer, in the sense that they provoke thought. There is often a puzzling uncertainty in the image which I enjoy as a potential focus for contemplation. – Lori Rogers
