I have always loved being creative, completed a fine arts degree in 2010 and work in a variety of media. Photography was an early interest and I have experience in video, printmaking, bookbinding, digital art and ceramics.
I was born in Ireland and when I was three we moved to Canada for about five years then returned to Ireland. Book illustrations fascinated me from an early age and I remember clearly noticing variations in light. As a child I took polaroids and then went on to learn more about photography. Ive been living in London for many years now and very much enjoy exploring new processes and learning new skills.
I’ve become much more productive and expressive since completing a fine art degree in 2010 so that was hugely beneficial to me. For my degree, I produced and edited video pieces and since then have learnt about photo etching and bookbinding. Currently, I am learning as much as I can about ceramics. I am interested in developing my skills in producing sculptural handbuilt forms but I also would very much like to progress with making functional pieces made on the wheel. I very much believe learning is lifelong and I have always had huge enthuasiasm for learning new skills, there is always progress to be made.
A lot of my recent work shown here has been made from combining photographs from various sources and altering them digitally. I am inspired by nature, in particular trees and birds and in my work aspire to portray moments of joy and aspects of the human condition. Recently, I’ve been exhibiting regularly in group shows and am working towards having a solo exhibition in the near future.
