The Firrenes are a melodic, song-based, five-piece band from Edinburgh, performing original material. The band’s principal songwriters are Jules Reed and Clare Cairns.
Jules (who is perhaps better known as the classical and opera composer Julian Wagstaff) began forming the band in 2014, playing electric guitar and using the original songs from his EP Five Songs for Your Consideration as a starting point. He was soon joined by John on keyboards, and by Edinburgh singer-songwriter Clare Cairns on vocals and acoustic guitar. They were joined in July 2016 by Tony on drums, and in September by Walt on bass guitar. The band have been working on arrangements of Jules’ and Clare’s songs, both old and new, and are looking forward to presenting these songs to the concert-going public in Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms on Thursday 3 November 2016.
Tickets cost just £6.00 (£4.00 for students/unwaged). Doors open at 7.30pm. The support act Riley (a young singer/songwriter from Glasgow) will be on at 8.00pm, and The Firrenes take the stage at 9.00pm.
