My heart hurts at how cruel & unjust this world is, I have a hard time living in it, happily – A. McEnroe
As a cancerian, McEnroe is vulnerable & a bit over emotional but an explosively imaginative character all the same. His highly intuitive and over sensitivity to his surroundings mean that everyday thoughts, feelings and happenings around him are soaked up. Having worked through many struggles in life from bullying, family trauma and health issues that he has battled for the last 9 years & still battles, McEnroe admits that being a full time carer for his disabled partner Emma as his biggest mental battle, even 9 years on yet one the things he’s most proud of. Love & pure heart can overcome so much.
McEnroe constantly strives to embrace his feelings about the past and current but also who he is as a person and those experiences negative and positive that have shaped him this far. letting this pour out of him into the works that he gives birth.
Originally McEnroe started to turn heads with his unique modern industrial style & very original and innovative use of recycled aluminium cans. Creating many animal studies, iconic pop idol figures of years gone by like a who’s who of musics hall of fame. One for pushing his boundaries and comfort zones with what he calls his ‘color motion studies’ in which you will not find a fixed structures only mesmerizing textures & striking colour. Leaving chaotic, emotive, vivid shapes strokes, pokes, scrapes scuffs on his works made by a manner of tools, from pens & broken glass to broad flat brushes.
