Following their ‘Crave Love’ and ‘Papaya’ singles, female-fronted soul, jazz and funk band Céline & The Blue prepare to release their anticipated ‘Within & Without’ EP. The band debuted live at Ronnie Scott’s, have been hailed as “Ones to Watch” (Music Republic Magazine) and were championed by Louder Than War. Their alluring sounds have aired on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio Berkshire, Eagle Radio and Vibe Radio.
Mixed and mastered by Sam Winfield (Bring Me The Horizon, Amber Run, Supergrass), ‘Within & Without’ showcases Céline & The Blue’s first chapter as a team and epitomizes the spark that kindled upon first connection between the members of the band. The EP celebrates self-discovery with all its ups and downs; ‘Safe’ and ‘Learn To Be Alone’ introduce viability and its hardships, ‘Crave Love’, ‘Hide In Your World’ and ‘Just You’ recount relationships in a variety of shades, and ‘Papaya’ closes the story with its feel-good energy, honoring happiness and freedom. Governed by a crisp and fragrant sound palette, ‘Within & Without’ combines jazz elements with the band’s signature soundscape at the crossroads of soul, funk and pop. The title ‘Within & Without’ is a reference to an F.Scott Fitzgerald quote in The Great Gatsby used to describe a character being both a participant and an observer of their life. The EP illustrates this duality tackling themes of self-reflection, growth, and relationships. The record encompasses the start of our creative journey as a band, it explores experiences we’ve seen each other go through and it’s a witness to our artistic growth. We are thrilled to have ‘Within & Without’ be the first step towards progress and so much more music for the future.
With the ‘Within & Without’ EP unveiling through a waterfall release, ‘Safe’ is the last establishment to the body of work. The funk-infused track bursts with colour, vibrant guitar motifs, an enticing bassline, and assertive vocals. Tackling the theme of anxiety, the track displays the internal monologues and toxic dynamics of an uneasy mind.
